I try to learn the saxophone and have no idea where to start … ideas?

Hello, I am 17 years and more year on my weak in the university. I have long had a desire (Well, I do after Music .. need) to learn an instrument, and especially the saxophone. I have not had no prior experience playing all the instruments, but I really want to learn for my own pleasure. Do you have any suggestions on how I proceed? My music department in school is one of the best of London (Camden), but I'm too shy to go for help without any musical knowledge whatsoever. Thanking you in advance any help!

Great to hear you've decided to take the saxophone. What I recommend is to find the music director or someone similar, and tell your situation. Your school Saxophones probably aa few, and probably be able to go free. If not, the director will know without a doubt the best music store to obtain a lease. I recommend getting some experience to introduce and teach you the basics right (mouth, hand position). When you know the basics, you might able to get away with any lesson, and learn the technique. Lessons will really help you to progress rapidly regardless of ability to play. Professionals can be expensive, but probably will help you more. A local music store may have a program of lessons, or you may be able to find one in your school. Also may be able to get lessons in May by the Director of lower cost (possibly free) from the principal or perhaps a saxophone in his school. If you hesitate to spend money a pro, this May is a good way to start. We hope this helps and good luck
